Placement Testing Aids Employers In Placing CandidatesThere are many tools used by employers today to find the best candidate for jobs being offered. Interviews and applications are dinosaurs compared to the array of tests being given to prospective employees. Personality tests, employment skill tests, career placement tests - all are meant to aid the employer in choosing the right person to fill the position they have to offer. Some of the tests actually help the applicant just as much. One of the diagnostic tools that help those looking for jobs or careers in a specific field would be the career placement test. The career placement test is a pre-employment test that helps a person to know which career they are suited for, and which ones they are not. High school students and people fresh out of college with a new degree are the ones that highly benefit from taking the career placement test. In fact, a lot of high schools and colleges now offer these as a means of helping a person identify which area they should be working in. The career placement test is not only helpful when someone is trying to figure out what career to take up. It also helps a potential employer know where to possibly place this individual within their organization that will best suit both the employer and the new employee. Sometimes a person wants to follow a particular field, such as law or medicine, only to find out they would be best suited in a technical field instead. This does not necessarily mean they should opt for the tech field. It does mean they should think about where they may work if they do pursue law or medicine. For instance, maybe they need to go into research instead of patient care, or business law rather than family law. A person's strengths and weaknesses in many areas are assessed by the career placement test. If the person is applying for an accounting department position, but their career placement test shows they would be good in the technical fields instead, this could pose a problem. If they are lucky, the employer has a position available where they can work on fixing broken telecommunication equipment instead of in the accounting department in accounts payable! Tests such as the career placement test should not be taken lightly, but don't have to completely guide a person's choice of career. If your test shows you'd be great in the medical field, but you have been trained as a secretary and you love being a secretary, that's perfectly acceptable. You might, however, want to think about where you work as a secretary since you might excel in a medical environment. |
